Working with schools and colleges has been one of the more rewarding aspects of my drone projects this year. From assisting bursary teams with one-off surveys to collaborating with local councils and surveyors on portfolio-wide improvement plans, each project brings its own unique challenges and opportunities.
Among the most fascinating were the tall, imposing Victorian school buildings of East London. Their intricate architecture made them visually striking but also more complex to survey. Using drone we navigated these challenges with precision, capturing detailed imagery and data while mitigating risks associated with working in built-up areas and around children.
Timing was also a critical factor. Many of these surveys were completed during school holidays, ensuring minimal disruption to students and staff. With tight schedules and safety as a top priority, these projects showcased the efficiency and adaptability of drone surveying.
From historic structures to modern campuses, drones have proven invaluable in supporting the maintenance and development of educational spaces, helping to ensure they remain safe and functional for future generations.
